First Friday!
Our most legit sale, and yet we took no photos it's a good thing we didn't make any new flavors or else no one would believe us! after our failed sale at Buffalo we decided to kick it back with the basics and by basics we mean Sweet Corn, Green Tea and Black Bean and Banana Pies. All of which were received very well and I came home with only 4 pies!
Suggestions were to hold off on the sugar in the green tea, make a wheat free crust and more vegan pies (i.e not make everything a cheese cake) Some people turned their heads at a 4 dolla pie, which I understand but jeeze I spent 2 days in the kitchen and man do you see how cute it i?!
coco crazy!
Sorry I wasn't able to post any sooner, Strange Pies have been working over time! Last Week we sold pies at Buffalo Exchange for their kick off summer sale.
Here's a sneak peak into our kitchen and our 4-armed pie madness
working together as we zest lemons for PINA COLADA PIE
The Pies were superb, just ask Chelsea and Wesley who certainly fell in love over it.
About the pie:
I think the only way to describe this pie is a "pineapple custard having a coconut wet dream"
Probably a 10 on the sweetness scale, and a 3 on the popularity scale. This creamy pie was served on two crusts because we couldn't decide what was better (graham cracker vs. traditional pie crust) made and flavored with every coconut and pineapple product I could get my hands on!! However, I think all the coconut lovers are in Oakland because hardly anyone shopping at Buffalo (except for the fine couple pictured above) wanted in on it! So I think we're gonna hold off on introducing Pina Colada again or available on request only and in small batches.

Double The Fun!
Friday June 18th Pretty Penny invited us to sell pies outside the shop, while Double Parlour hosted an art show inside! Here are a few images from the event:
Other exciting news! We might have a gig at the Buffalo Exchange on Telegraph Avenue due to my fabulous roomate Chelsea who slipped our names in during a meeting (talk about amazing). All I really know about it right now is that it's a beach theme, so how does PINA COLADA PIE sound? Any takers?

Hellooooo OAKLAND!
If you are unfamiliar with Strange Pies, and are thinking to yourself "what exactly is a Strange Pie" "are Strange Pies safe to eat, and if so what makes them so strange" or maybe "who the brains are behind such pies" If you thought one or more of these questions then I would suggest reading the following!
Strange Pies are the combined minds of Justin and Sam e. Not only are we neighbors, best friends but also we're helpless food addicts with too much time on our hands. Instead of eating all of our sweet treats, we have decided to unleash them on the street!
Choosing to stick to our creative roots, we decided on making mini pies, because how mini pies do you see walkin' down the streets, and how many of them are as adorable as ours?
We call our pies Strange, not because they contain drugs (which they don't, and yes we've been asked if they have) but rather due to their unique flavors. Our pies range from sweet, to savory and promise to be delicious in every bite.
